These guys are great I was in town for one day and was experiencing a raw fuel smell coming through the air vents in our Subaru. I called Alpine Auto Doctors and they were able to get me in quickly. Upon arrival I was greated quickly and my car was in the shop in less than 5 minutes. They quickly diagnosed the problem and fixed not only the initial problem but also cleaned my air vent system and completely removed any existing smell of fuel. These guys are professionals and went above and beyond my expectations all the while treating me like family. I would highly recommend these guys for any auto work you need done.

Do not go to these people!!

My husband and I had a terrible experience with Alpine Auto Doctors. My husband was quoted $1,000. They had our car for two and a half months, and only finished the work when my husband started calling frequently. The final bill was $3300. We initially discussed the possibility of Alpine Auto Doctors selling the car for us after the repair at a price of $4,500, so we were appalled to see that they had overspent the estimate by 330%.

On the other hand, the owner is condescending, gruff, and dismissive. I came in for a full inspection and was told a lot had to be done, including a desperate need for an oil change ( i just bought the truck used). Though he initially told me that I would be able to pick up my truck in the evening, when I called to inquire, he all but scoffed at the idea. When speaking with him about your automobile, he will treat you as if you were a fool for not knowing what is HIS profession to know.

WIth that being said, when I came to get my truck the next morning, after sitting around for about 1.5 hours, the owner and I struck up a conversation and ended up having a long and relatively pleasant talk. He did most of the talking, as was to be expected.

One of the older men who works there was very kind, having given me a ride into Durango and offering to come get me later. He even offered to get me out to ignacio if I happened to be going that way.

I gather there was a miscommunication between the mechanic and the office staff about what problems had been diagnosed, and whether we had authorized that work or not. The office staff did not adequately communicate with my husband that the work was going over the original estimate. Meanwhile, the mechanics thought they had customer authorization to continue work. They did not.

Not but maybe 6 hours later I called him to let him know I was still hearing a strong creaking in the front end. When speaking with him, you get the feeling that not only does he have not idea who you are, but that he is always on the defense, trying to protect his hide. Instead of telling me to bring it on in to double check everything, he came up with a list of other things it could be and just told me to give it time to be lubricated. After a full inspection, I would hope the truck would be in good enough shape that it wouldnt have been all these other things he had listed. He even asked if the CV axel was broken on the other side to which i responded “isn;t that something YOU should know and would have found??" All work done cost me around 1200$ if i remember correctly...

Miscommunications happen. But unfortunately, Alpine Auto Doctors was not willing to accept responsibility for their internal lack of dialogue which resulted in not providing us with an estimate nor requesting authorization for $2,300 more work. Instead, they insisted that we pay the full amount immediately and threatened to disassemble our vehicle that day if we didn't. We were willing to pay the estimated $1000, and even offered to negotiate a middle ground. They would not accept it. We paid the full amount and got our car as soon as possible.

These guys are running a real scam with their business! They sold us an old Subaru for $5,000 with over 300,000 miles on it. They told us the whole engine, transmission, etc had been replaced with new parts, but it is clearly not true. When we bought it, we were sceptical but they eased our concerns about its mileage.

It turned out that the work order/receipt from Alpine Auto was so improperly filled out IE not displaying the date of service OR man hours spent on the car, that the insurance company would not use it. No money reimbursed.

A week or two later, I am on the road driving through the mid west, and go to double check my oil. It has not been changed at all. Then, I decide to call the shop as I have noticed after a few days had gone by after having my truck “fixed” that it was pulling really hard to the right and had started rattling. It was NOT doing this before I had the car worked on. Again, rude, gruff, and arrogant, suggested to get my truck reexamined.

Thanks Alpine Auto for being complete assholes and unacceptably unprofessional.

We've had it for less than a year and I think it's already dying. When we confronted them about to they basically told us that we shouldn't have expected to be able to drive it. What kind of business is that? They're cheap, lying, two-faces mechanics that give the profession a bad name.

After first going to Alpine Auto for my truck, I was thinking to come on google and give them a rating. At the time it would have been between a 2 or a 3.

The guy at pepboys mentioned how he could see fresh grease but just couldn't figure out what in fact was actually done to fix the truck. So, he did me a favor and calls Alpine Auto. When he got off the phone, he was so exasperated with how rude the shop owner was, who basically gave him an insurance number to call to partially reimburse me.

So I do. The guys at Pepboys give the truck a look, and give me a quote for 1100$. Mind you, this is after I had just been given a FULL inspection and have 1200$ worth of work done.

Scott and his crew replaced the distributor and fuel pump in my 1988 Land Cruiser. When I picked it up on Saturday (the bill was $1300) I could barely get it home - no power, overheated. Took it in the following Monday and spent three hours while they diddled with it. This time I got it home, but continued to have problems with overheating and lack of power. Finally had another shop look at it. After much effort at diagnosis, they discovered that the distributor had not been installed at TDC and that the firing order had been altered from spec to get it to run. Properly installing the distributor at TDC and restoring the proper firing order solved the problem, but it cost me another $500 in labor. I contacted Scott about reimbursement but was ignored.

Personally, I felt bullied by Alpine Auto Doctors. Legally, the Colorado Motor Vehicles Act prohibits shops from doing unauthorized repairs on the car and not providing an updated estimate (in writing, might I add). I do not recommend that you take your vehicle here.

Note, this is the first review I have ever had the displeasure of writing. And if i could give 0 stars... i would.
