Room was nice. Beds were comfy. Staff was accommodating. Breakfast was good. After our stay, I started getting a TON of spam from their company. If the room had been $50 less, I'd have given it 5 stars.
The gals at the front desk are really welcoming and nice. Breakfast is fantastic. The lobby and breakfast area were relaxing for reading and surfing the net. Only 4 stars as coffee in the room was not replenished. Daily room service consisted of replacing towels only.
Stayed two nights here last week. Room was clean. They didn't give us new shampoo for the second night. That's my only complaint. The staff was nice. I'm sure they would have given us some of I would have asked.
When we travel as a family we usually choose Choice Hotels because they are usually clean, moderately priced, provide a hot breakfast, and they are usually pretty consistent from property to property. This location is an older facility that has been remodeled but the rooms and hallways were not clean. The price was about 50% higher than we usually pay and the accommodations were poor. I'd avoid this property. Carpets in bedroom were "sticky", mold in the showers and the hallway smelled of urine.
I stayed here three weeks ago, and just loved this property. It is clean and the people are so friendly. I had never been there before, so I had a lot of questions, but they were very patient and gave me directions to everything I needed to find. They have a beautiful pool and large rooms, and the breakfast was very good. I highly recommend going in October to see the changing of the leaves for fall. Seeing the leaves changing in the mountains is awesome. The train ride is lots of fun and you can see the leaves from that as well. I highly recommend it to anyone that visits Durango. All in all, this is a great hotel, and a beautiful area to visit...we'll be back!
The walls are very thin. We were on our honeymoon but could hear the family next door talking, even whispering.
