As a Durango "newbie" I hadn't actually been to the museum or seen the train "up close and personal"! Both are impressive. The museum is charming and provides loads of information packed into a visually stimulating space. Worth a visit!! Can't wait to ride the train for the first time this weekend...
For the railroad buff this place is can't miss. Incredible amount of history here. Very well displayed. Easy to get overwhelmed. But plenty of places to sit and rest. Amazing museum. Staff is knowledgeable and engaging. Plan to spend 3-4 hours here to scratch the surface while she shops downtown Durango. Then go back!
Took the family for the Polar Express ride. Great experience all around. Highly recommend for all families with train-lovers. Ride to the North Pole, drink hot chocolate, eat a chocolate chip cookie, sing Christmas Carols, meet Santa on the train and get the first gift of Christmas. Depart train with option to take Santa photo, look around museum, and meet reindeer. Fun for all ages!
What a fun experience. Everyone should take this train ride. Guides & brakemen...woman were great. Scenes out the window surpassed anything I had seen. The fall colores were superb. Silverton was fun but snowy & wet day we were there. Loved all our events in Durango.
Ok this place is great if you like trains you will love this place I've been on the train multiple times and just as cool as it was the first time when I was a kid I'm 35 now I've now taken my kids on the train and will be back as soon as we can. we road the train to the north Pole this time. On the Polar express! It was awesome. The kids loved it. We had hot chocolate and a cookie. Then we got to meet
