It's just too bad that the woman at the front desk was absolutely downright rude. They don't accept campervans apparently, and she made it ridiculously clear. The other campers didn't look particularly happy so I suppose they're lucky to have so many good reviews.
I know everyone has different opinions and, as RV parks go, this is a seemingly well groomed, close packed little place. Nothing unusual there.
Not near the river and back of the park spots where we were is near busy and loud road. The road was behind a fence and we didn't hear the cars until after we set up. They should have told us that when we were selecting a site. Several much better park options nearby. Wouldn't stay there again if it was free.
My wife and I loved it here. We tried to extend our stay three more days but they were completely booked and could only add one more night. About half the park is up in the trees and the other half is out in the open. They had a site for us up in the trees and I asked for an open spot so my satellite TV would work. They had no problem changing our site. They are very nice and friendly and even escort you to your site and make sure it is satisfactory. They even make home made pizza in the office and will deliver to your RV. There is a lot to do in the Durango area, so we are already talking about a future trip. The Alpen Rose RV Park will again be our home away from home.
Head north up the road to the RV Park & Resort, much nicer, friendlier and way cheaper!
The campground was beautiful and the showers very clean. Our complaint is that the campground does not have anyone on duty to enforce the 10 pm quiet time. We were next to a group that smoked pot, drank, and partied till at least 1 am. We asked them to please keep the noise level down but that fell on deaf ears. Short of calling the police, there was nothing we could do. When the office opened in the morning they said that the protocol was to turn the partiers in at the office in the morning and action would be taken of course after a sleepless night. We will not camp there again and always stay where there is someone on site 24-7 to handle problems as they arise!!
Nice well-maintained fair priced RV Park. Laid out in a way that you have a spacious area to yourself. Plenty of beautiful trees and scenery. The staff is friendly and helpful, the clientele is upscale therefore your neighbors are two if that's important to you? We were here a week, spent a Sunday checking out other parks this by far was the best for what we were looking for. Conveniently located to the attractions we were interested in. 35 ft. 5th wheel and long bed crew cab truck, no problem.... Good luck and be safe in your travels....
