Just went in to Gazpacho's for lunch sat at the bar and ordered lunch. While waiting for my food the bar tender went and got her dog, tied it up behind the bar. She scratched and petted the dog just as my food came out and then proceeded to serve me. She didn't wash her hands or show any concern for cleanliness. I informed her I would just pay for my beer and go. Her response was I'm sorry are you allergic to dogs.
Good New Mexican fare! Red Chile is VERY good. Green Chile has good heat but little depth/body. AMAZING sopapillas!
Gazpacho was the first restaurant the local river guides I was working with back in 1998 took me to when I moved to Durango. Today when I came in to take advantage of my locals first coupon for a large percentage off on my meal (based on the number of laps I have made around the sun) a couple of those same river rats were finishing their lunch. That should tell you all you need to know. But wait, there's more! Great service from Sam at the bar including a free birthday desert (pictured) as well as the story behind the dogs (pictured left to right is Atlas the Rafting Akita from Mountain Waters Rafting and his new as yet unnamed side kick Mrs. Super Puppy) not being allowed on the deck any more (read the next two reviews, damned if you do damned if you don't). But as you can see, Gazpacho is still dog friendly and it works out nicely with the dogs just the other side of the deck and the food and service are still kicking butt 20 years later, Cheers!
Menu is a little expensive but worth the cash. The food is absolutely tasty and the staff are super friendly. I ordered the gazpacho combo, and the portions are huge, definitely something that's shareable.
Food was wonderful, staff was even better. However while dining, the manager rudely said to one of the employees that she does not even like having service dogs in the establishment. That was said within clear earshot of my service dog and I, both of us sitting on the patio as to not potentially disturb other patrons. Much shame to that, despite the lovely service I will certainly never be dining here again.
I asked for a manager and explained what happened, she offered me something to go.
