And on to the bad: I camped here on Labor Day Weekend and had possibly the worst overall experience I've had in a Forest Service campground ever. By the time I got to the campground most of the spots were taken so I took the only one left, which happened to be next to the worst possible camping neighbors you can imagine. A group a couple of sites over played music until midnight and restarted at 6AM. The men of two groups immediately adjacent to me yelled at each other all night. I distinctly remember hearing a fight about blankets happening at 3:49AM. I'm convinced they were drunk, stoned, or both based on the contect of all of their 'conversations.' Another man in another site the next day flagrantly dropped his pants to urinate in the middle of the camp site. I was so fed up I couldn't stay another night, packed up, and went home.
Stayed here almost a month completely free
Now, several things probably contributed directly to the experience: free campground (meaning no campground host), holiday weekend, and close to town. Those factors I think added up to attracting a low class clientele on average.
I'll start with the good: It's a normal campground with decent, but not great, places to set up a test. The scenery in the area is nice. At the current time, there was no overnight camping fee.
However, this campground is closing temporarily for refurbishment and when it opens the plan is to have a normal USFS fee station. I hope this improvement project improves the facilities and allows a campground host to be stationed there.

It is now $15 per night with a 14 day limit. No reservations - first come first serve. No water on site.
