It's very hard to ask someone else for help. Having anxiety and depression doesn't make that any easier. I've been suicidal lately and knew I needed to get help. I scheduled an appointment with someone letting them know whats gong on. The earliest was a month away. I managed to persevere, barely. I called them at least twice since the appointment was made, both times they said that it was there on the schedule, and no I didn't need to do anything else. The day came, guess what, i needed a psych evaluation first before a doctor could see me. The earliest time they could schedule that was in another week. I'm done being strung along and asking for help. If i don't make it through the night. My blood is on your hands Axis. No wonder the suicide rate is so high here. Even if you try to get help, you can't get it.
In 2012, after a 10 year addiction to a wide assortment of psychiatric drugs, I was brought back to Durango, where my sister had committed suicide while under Axis' care, things went horribly wrong due to their complete incompetence, and pushing of drugs clinically proven not to work, I was abandoned by Lori Raney after reading Robert Whittaker's Anatomy of an Epidemic. Durango is sick and this place needs to be shut down forever.
Just awful! My husband, daughter and I were having issues so we scheduled to meet with a counselor there. When we arrived they took us into a medical room. Then two nurses arrived and had me sit in a chair and they started taking my blood pressure and weight. At that point, I said we are here for counseling. They then said that I needed a medical exam first so that is what they were doing. I said "So you're doing my medical exam with my husband and daughter in the room?!" They said "Yes, they have already had their exams. They can meet with the counselor while you have your exam." I then said, "We came here to meet with the counselor together not separately." I suddenly had a horrible feeling about the whole thing like I was going to be taken away to a mental facility or something. It was so bizarre! My husband also had the same sense I did that this was not being handled properly at all and we all left and never went back. They seemed so incompetent at best.
During a difficult time, Axis Health gave me affordable counseling that saved my life. They were professional and also have a crisis line. Might not be typical, but I had a very positive experience with every aspect of their organization. A good way for people on the fringe to get the help they need.
Last week my family was in crisis. My 18 yr old son was feeling suicidal and was dealing with paranoia and delusions along with depression brought on by his mental illness. We turned to Crossroads and Axis Health, and they immediately took us under their wing. From Liza at the front desk showing us compassion and support, coupled with Steve and Christopher assessing my sons state of mind and quickly coming up with a sound plan, you truly got us through this horrible moment. The Axis team took care of everything for us from the ER visit (they personally escorted us to the ER to insure my son was safe) all the way to the end of my sons in-care hospital stay and discharge plan. He was set up with therapists and plenty of resources upon his return home. We are grateful and thankful to Axis for helping my family through a difficult moment.
