First, people are commenting a lot about "the owner," however the comments seem conflicting. Having visited the store a number of times during our visit I've decided that there are two owners. One is a nice younger blond lady, and the other I can confirm is a rude older lady. I believe they are related. Perhaps a grandmother and granddaughter.
Please don't support such a rude and mean store owner.
They get two stars from me because if asked to describe my overall experience with the store I would say it wasn't that bad. But that still means it was kinda bad. Prices seem too high and I had the misfortune of meeting the older lady addressed in other people's comments.
Great selection of unique toys & games! The owner was very kind and helpful, I can't stress that enough. We found great selections for our kiddos for the long drive ahead of us. We look forward to shopping there again the next time we're in Durango!
I wasn't going to leave a review, but the more I think about it the more upset I get. We were in Durango for the day, went rafting, just hanging around town. Everyone was super nice everywhere we went. We went into Kids Rock and were approached by an older lady. She was really short with us when we told her we just wanted to look around. I was there with my daughter and she wanted to look at the toys. The lady who was working there was extremely rude the entire time we were in the store. I mistakenly told my daughter before we went in thay she could get a toy. The store is way over priced for what they have. I understand that it is a tourist shop but the price coupled with the lady's attitude and lack of Coustomer service made it not worth while. I just hope she is a simply employee and they can replace her, because otherwise it may have been a better experience.
Lots of cute things, and the lady at the counter was helpful. However, it seemed a bit overpriced.
Second, while this is a toy store per se, it is also a consignment store featuring handmade goods, the quality of which varies from item to item. I understand that handmade goods tend to be more expensive, however it almost seems that kids rock takes advantage of this and marks price up even more. As to the toys, I really think they may just by toys from Wal-Mart and mark them up. We bought a sensory ball from Kids Rock for my daughter and a few days later noticed the same ball for less at Wal-Mart.
