However, after today, eating there will definitely slow down or even stop for me. Not because of the service or food quality, but because of the recent price increase. I noticed some items went up by as much as 20%. When I asked the cashier about it, he told me that it was to cover the cost of processing credit cards.
I love this place, when I get a chance to visit Durango I always make it to Bread for a loaf of your Potato Sage. I LOVE IT. Thank you.
In the past, Bread has always been a cash-only business and didn't take credit cards. Therefore, each time I visit I bring cash. I think it is great that they now accept cards, but I don't want to pay the processing fee as a cash customer. I also find it unacceptable that the price increase is significantly higher than any CC processor would charge a business (generally 2-10%). I understand that this is the "cost of doing business", but it still shouldn't be passed on like this. Maybe those folks paying with a card could be charged a one or two dollar fee for doing so.
Bread is one of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch. The sandwiches are delicious and fresh daily, and the staff is usually helpful and courteous.
I am happy to visit Bread again if this policy could be changed. Any comment from Bread Management or Owner(s) would be greatly appreciated.
Best turkey sandwiches ever! Generous portions, exquisite bread and good prices make this one of my favorite lunch places in Durango.
I stop at Bread every time I go to Durango. The pizza bread, cookies (especially molasses and Sow Your Oats), and stuffed croissants are ridiculously delicious. I look forward to many more years of visits and sampling of different breads. If you go, don't forget to bring cash!
